Many enjoyed the Crab Feed at the Legion Hall this past weekend; especially all the talent!  Good job Crab Feed organizers and volunteers!

The Nimiipuu Health Scholarship fundraiser, “Valentine Sweet Squares” is open now until February 11.  Get on the board for a chance to win $200. The winner will be drawn February 11.  Contact Artrette Sampson at Lapwai NMPH for your chance to win.

The Nimiipuu Health Scholarship is intended to encourage American Indian students to enter into the health profession.  It is designed to assist with the financial burden for those wishing to pursue an undergraduate degree in the health field.  The Nimiipuu Health scholarship program was started to honor those tribal members whose life was dedicated to helping others with the passion and compassions of their honored professions, who have served our people or on the Nimiipuu Health Board.  Nimiipuu Health sponsors a scholarship fund that provides financial assistance to enrolled American Indian students who are either currently enrolled or beginning an academic career in the health care field.  The NMPH scholarship committee is gearing up to give away their first scholarship this spring; after many years of being inactive we are excited about awarding a scholarship to one of our young people entering the health field.  Packets are available at the Kamiah NMPH Clinic and the Lapwai NMPH; or contact Artrette Everett, Benefits Coordinator at (208) 843-2271 ext. 2871.

Mark your calendars!  “Protecting our Elders: Drug Abuse Awareness Education for adults over 50 years old,”  will be Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the Wa-a’yas building in Kamiah from 9:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and again March 2, at the Pi-nee-waus building in Lapwai.  Continental breakfast and lunch will be served.  This event is hosted by Nez Perce Tribe Adult Protection and Later in Life Programs.   Sign-up sheets are located at the Sr. Citizen’s Meal Sites in Kamiah, Lapwai and the Teweepu Center in Orofino; or contact Cara at (208) 621-4778, Stella at (208) 621-3875, or Daneta Jabeth at (208) 843-9375.

Birthday blessings to Shenoah Plume Bowen, Dorthy Hudson, Sam Penney, Elroy Moffett, Skylin Parrish, Adam Porter, Brandon Guzman, and Michael Joe Ellenwood!

Have a fun Super Bowl weekend!  Anyone willing to bet me…Panthers all the way!
