“The sky is falling!”

     Chicken Littles run around everywhere, glooming and dooming. Yes, our federal government is misbehaving. This is not new news.

     There are many things to be thankful for. Freedom to:

     * walk around enjoying the autumn

     * attend the church of our choice

     * invite the neighborhood to a picnic

     * write outlandish letters to the editor

     * buy nice steaks

     * buy nice guns to shoot organic steaks

     * free copies of this newspaper

     * tell our neighbors why they are blessed to live here

     Most everyone I know who wants a job or car has one. Those needing food or shelter can find it.

     One thing we need is gratitude.

     We should daily thank God that we peacefully live, work and worship in a great little community. No typhoons, tornadoes, earthquakes, roaming terrorist gangs or mosquitoes (too cold for either kind of pest).

     Enjoy this Thanksgiving with a grateful heart. And, please, let’s not call it “Turkey Day.”

     The sky is not falling. God’s still in charge. Regardless of what happens around us, if our heart is right within us, and we belong to God, He has an even nicer eternal home for us.

     Phil 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer, with Thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

     Our hearts and our minds will be guarded by the very peace of God. That’s something for which we can be most thankful.
