KAMIAH — Beginning the year with the students in person was a high priority for the Kamiah Joint School District 304. As part of the district’s Return to Learn Plan, masks are not required, but recommended. Many staff and students chose to wear masks throughout the day. Kamiah Elementary decided to approach mask wearing like superheroes!

Teachers purchased or had masks and capes made for the students. First-grade teacher, Mrs. Schlieper, mentioned the superhero idea to a group of generous ladies from the Life Center. The ladies made a combined total of 36 capes and masks as gifts for the first grade students. Schlieper also designed a cityscape bulletin board to serve as a backdrop for photos of students wearing their masks and capes.

There are a lot of unknowns surrounding school during these uncertain times, but one thing is for certain. Adding a sense of fun can make a huge difference!
