The Kooskia Saddliers will hold an obstacle and trail challenge Sept. 18, with sign-up at 9 a.m. and start at 10 a.m. Entries are $10 for juniors up to age 13, $10 per horse for novices, and $15 per horse in the open class. Spectators are free and all are welcome.

Several club members were able to help the Kooskia Fun Run by using our radios to keep the race officials appraised of the locations of the runners. Repeater work parties were held on July 20 and the 27th. The antenna was raised from 10 feet to approximately 45 feet resulting in increased coverage.

KAMIAH — The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Child Care program, awarded a $1 million Community Programs grant to the Upriver Youth Leadership Council (UYLC), based in Kamiah, according to Sharlene Johnson, UYLC’s executive director.
