KAMIAH – What does it physically take to be a firefighter or emergency medical technician (EMT)? Head to the track this Saturday morning to see applicants for these Kamiah positions go through the physical assessment portion.
The City of Kamiah and Kamiah Fire-Rescue have received 15 applications for firefighter/EMT positions. Included in this group are five local candidates, as well as four paramedics. All applicants will begin with a written exam on Friday evening, Nov. 13, followed by a strenuous physical agility assessment at the Kamiah High School track on Saturday morning, Nov. 14 and will finish with a panel interview that afternoon.
The public is invited to watch Saturday’s physical assessment and see what the requirements of this position. The process begins at 8:30 a.m.
“As Kamiah Fire-Rescue begins the transition from a volunteer organization to a combination fire-based EMS Advanced Life Support program (paramedic level),” stated city clerk Stephanie Dyche, in a prepared release, “we excited to announce some of these changes that are beginning to take place.
