The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests’ North Fork Ranger District advises changes to the Kelly Forks Cabin rental program will take place this coming summer in order to allow more people to enjoy the cabin each season.
Starting this summer, the maximum number of nights per season that an individual may rent the cabin will be six, down from the previously allowable 14 nights. The six nights can be booked consecutively or split between a maximum of two separate reservations.
“The Kelly Forks Cabin is a very popular destination on the North Fork, with reservations filling up every season for the past several years. We want to make it possible for us to accommodate more reservations each season so many different visitors have the opportunity to come and enjoy the area,” said North Fork District Ranger Andrew Skowlund.
Kelly Forks Cabin will be open from June 14 to Oct. 1, 2021. Recreation.gov will begin accepting reservations for the coming season on Jan. 14. All reservation processes besides the changes stated above remain the same as in previous seasons. For information and to make a reservation, visit www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/233160.
The Kelly Forks Cabin is located at the confluence of the North Fork of the Clearwater River and Kelly Creek, near Kelly Forks Work Center and Kelly Forks Campground. Sleeping up to six, this historic cabin was built in the 1930s. Learn more at www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/nezperceclearwater/recarea/?recid=80134.
