Dear Christian, I was reading through Psalm 121 recently, and was caught by vs 1-2. The Psalmist says “I lift up my eyes unto the hills from where my help comes, My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.” This is one of the very great and precious promises that Jehovah makes to His people.

This is understood as spectacular protection for unnumbered people of God who have suffered pain and deprivation through life, and these people in faith looked up trusting. There are those with bold and strong faith who in their time were martyred, even since the early church.

We hear of many solid committed Christians who have experienced job loss or business failure and with conviction look up to Him who is in control for guidance. All of these have made the choice to say and believe that their help comes from the Lord of Life. These are the saints who are able to say that through good or evil, through laughter and tears, and through living and dying believed that their help was from the Lord of Life. For we Christians today that Helper is Jesus Christ who promised us that He would be with us always, even to the end of our age. In vs. 7 of the Psalm it reads “The Lord will keep you from all harm, He will watch over your life.” Yes and Amen! He is faithful in times of severe difficulty.

Let us be strong and courageous as Joshua needed to be as He crossed the Jordan River to conquer the land. It appears that we Christians are being tried, not to do physical battle, but certainly spiritual warfare. The reality is that some may fall and succumb to fear; strong Christians will look up to Jesus Christ who has promised and they will overcome. Jesus Christ is the best life assurance available on planet earth.
