Public invited to Christmas party at airport Print E-mail

CV Aero Club sponsors Dutch Oven Cook-Off12-8-16-cobbler-image

     The public is invited to participate in the tasting and judging of a free Dutch Oven Cook-Off competition hosted by the Clearwater Valley Aero Club.

     The cook-off, as part of a Christmas party, will be held at the Kamiah Airport Hanger located at 121 Airport Road on Dec. 17. There will be live music, drinks, and dancing.

Mireles pleased with Stites Fire Chief appointment

     12-8-16-rey-mireles-stites-Transplanted per say from the Ophir Fire Department near Nesika Beach, Ore., Rey Mireles (pictured left) is looking forward to helping instigate some positive changes for the Stites Fire Department as the new Chief.

     Mireles spent the last 10 years working with Lucky Brandt, the previous Fire Chief, and says the combined fire departments of Kooskia and Stites have a lot of great people who work well together.

     The Kamiah Post Office is filling up with packages and is running out of space.

     “It’s that time of year again when your little post office is packed with gifts from friends and family.  We would appreciate it if everyone would be prompt in picking up, we just don’t have space to store them,” said Postmaster Larry Beauchamp (pictured above, with parcels waiting to be picked up).

 
New Deputy Forest Supervisor named Print E-mail

Steele joins Nez Perce-Clearwater NF

     The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests welcomes Kurt Steele as the new Deputy Forest Supervisor.  Steele, currently serving as the District Ranger at the Tofte Ranger District on the Superior National Forest in Minnesota, will join the forest team on Jan. 8, 2017.
