Idaho County: Who we are

Idaho County's economy remains heavily dependent on natural resources, both forest products and agriculture. One in eight of the cou4-17-14--dale-wemhoffnty's private sector jobs is in logging or wood products manufacturing, according to the Idaho Department of Labor.

A decline in housing starts resulted in depressed lumber prices, forcing mills to reduce employment. But many of those lost jobs are slowly returning. A stabilized lumber market, higher wheat and other commodity prices have been encouraging signs of an economic recovery.

The following is a snapshot of Idaho County.
