Tribal police may begin issuing citations April 1

     In a Feb. 24 letter sent to all five county sheriffs bordering the Nez Perce Indian Reservation, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced U.S. Magistrate Judge Candy Dale had approved a Central Violations Bureau (CVB) Docket giving tribal officers the ability to ticket anyone violating federal law on the reservation. In other words, trained tribal officers may begin citing non-tribal members for some misdemeanors when the program goes into effect on April 1.
