PTO brings children's author to Kamiah Print E-mail

Author shares 'once in a lifetime' message

Renowned youth author Ben Mikaelsen gave Kamia3-13-14-l-mikaelson-assembly-samsh students some thoughts to ponder when he spoke at two assemblies hosted by the Parent Teacher Organization on March 6.

"I think that yesterday was a once in a lifetime opportunity for a lot of our kids," said sixth grade teacher Joe Sams. "They got to sit and listen to a famous person! To get a chance to talk with someone that has trained sled dogs, parachuted over 1,000 times, written 10 very high quality published books, been all over the world, even lived with homeless people and raised a 750 pound black bear...doesn't happen every day. Then to top it off, they got to hear that he wasn't special!"
