Clearwater snowpack leaps to 120% of normal 3-13-14--flooding-at-weippe-0004

The "Pineapple Express" and major storm cycle during February gave a huge boost to Idaho's snowpack, great news for most of Idaho's numerous water users.

Last month's abundant mountain snowfall, along with cool temperatures to maintain the snowpack, vastly improved this year's water supply forecast, according to the latest snowpack report by the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

Heavy rains and snowmelt resulted in the formation of a lake at Weippe. This picture was taken March 10 off of South Main Street. The lake was estimated to be a couple hundred feet wide and six to seven feet deep. Photo contributed by Bill Swan
