Snowpack off to slow start

     As of Monday, Jan. 6, the mountain peaks that feed the Clearwater River and its tributaries held a snowpack that is about 82 percent of the long-term 30-year average from October to January. According to the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), the basin has so far received only 71 percent of its normal precipitation for this time of year.

     While low, our area seems to be faring much better than most other areas of the state.
