Student pilot escapes injury following crash

A teenage student pilot walked away with only minor injuries Wednesday morning after her Cessna 152 crashed upon takeoff during 7-11-13--student-pilot-crasa solo flight at the Kamiah airport.

According to Lt. Doug Ulmer of the Idaho County Sheriff’s Dept. (ICSD), Kathleen Nemeth, 19, of Grangemont was attempting to take off about 9 a.m. Wednesday in an aircraft owned by the Clearwater Valley Aero Club.

The cockpit of this Cessna 152 remained relatively intact, protecting the student pilot from injury, following a Wednesday morning crash at the Kamiah Airport. Dave Medel/Progress
